Philips Report Highlights AI Surge in Indian Healthcare Capacity

Artificial Intelligence is expanding patient capacity and clinical workflows across Indian healthcare, according to the Future Health Index report. Approximately 71% of Indian healthcare professionals report an increase in daily patient capacity due to AI tools, significantly surpassing the global benchmark of 50%. Clinicians experiencing this surge handle a median of ten additional patient consultations each week.

Optimism surrounding AI remains high, with 85% of Indian professionals believing AI improves overall patient outcomes. Furthermore, 48% of surveyed clinicians reported that AI helped identify or prevent potential medical errors at least three times over a three-month period. Beyond diagnostics, digital automation enhances workflow efficiency for 82% of professionals and improves access to consolidated patient data for 80% of respondents.

More than half of Indian healthcare professionals save at least 132 hours annually through digital automation, with 75% of this time reinvested into more thorough patient consultations. Major healthcare networks like Apollo Hospitals have already integrated AI-assisted diagnostics into digital platforms like Apollo 24/7, pointing toward broader adoption in rural and underserved communities.
