Priyanka Gandhi Slams PM in Lok Sabha Over Paper Leak Bill

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi launched a sharp critique of the Union government during the debate on the Public Examinations Amendment Bill 2026. She urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to change the angle of his heart rather than the angle of cameras, highlighting alleged apathy toward student concerns. The session faced multiple disruptions as she questioned the use of pellet guns on students during the Sansad Chalo march on July 20. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav intensified the attack by comparing the current police crackdown on students to the Emergency era. He alleged that security forces used lathis with spikes and electric batons to disperse protesters demanding transparency in national examinations. Yadav claimed that the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was a direct result of mounting student pressure. The opposition collective, known as the INDIA bloc, continued to demand a comprehensive statement from Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the handling of recent protests.

The proceedings grew increasingly tense as Priyanka Gandhi targeted V Kamakoti, the Director of IIT Madras, labeling him a gaumutra expert for his role on the NTA reform panel. Union Minister Anurag Thakur and other BJP leaders strongly objected to these remarks, leading to a heated face-off that saw several comments expunged from the record. Despite the friction, the government remains committed to passing the anti-paper leak bill to restore faith in the examination system. The House stands adjourned as the opposition maintains its demand for an adjournment motion on the NEET paper leak controversy.
