Odisha PVTG Study Reveals Critical Anaemia Crisis Among Women

A concerning new study by Utkal University reports that more than half of adult women from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in Odisha suffer from anaemia. The data highlights a severe public health emergency, particularly regarding the Hill Kharia community, which faces an alarming stunting prevalence of 82.76%. These figures signal a deep-rooted crisis in nutritional security and access to healthcare for some of the state's most marginalized populations.

The high prevalence of anaemia and stunting within these groups stems from multi-generational nutritional deficiencies and limited reach of public health infrastructure.
