NTA Overhaul: 600 Experts Removed To Secure National Exams

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has initiated a massive internal overhaul by removing 600 subject experts from its panel. This move follows recent controversies regarding question paper leaks and technical errors in national competitive exams. Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi announced that the agency will now implement a rigorous four-tier checking system for all future question papers. The objective is to eliminate errors and ensure the absolute integrity of exams that determine the future of millions of Indian students. This represents the most significant restructuring of the agency since its inception.

To bolster physical and digital security, NTA offices and sensitive document handling centres will now be secured by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). This high-level security cover aims to prevent any unauthorized access to question banks and exam materials. The Ministry of Education has also directed the agency to update its technical infrastructure to better handle the scale of examinations like UGC-NET and NEET. These changes come amid intense pressure from student bodies and political parties who have been demanding more accountability from the testing body.

For students currently participating in the 2026 exam cycle, including UGC-NET, the NTA has extended the window for answer key challenges to ensure fairness. The immediate impact of these reforms will be seen in the smoother conduct of upcoming national entrance tests. Education experts believe that removing a large number of experts will allow for a fresh influx of academic talent, potentially improving the quality and clarity of question papers.
