Square Enix has officially confirmed that the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy 14 will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on August 4, 2026. Game director Naoki Yoshida announced the news during the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival 2026 in Berlin, confirming that preorders will open shortly. To encourage player adoption and ensure server stability during the rollout, the developer will offer the first month of gameplay free of subscription charges for Switch 2 users.

The decision to bring FFXIV to Nintendo hardware follows extensive discussions between Square Enix and Nintendo, resulting in a unique subscription model.
