Gurugram-Jaipur NH-48 Toll Corridor To Go Barrier-less

The entire Gurugram-Jaipur highway corridor along the National Highway 48 is slated to transition to a fully barrier-less toll collection system starting August 1. This project implements the Multi-Lane Free Flow tolling technology, designed to eliminate the long queues often seen at traditional toll plazas by allowing vehicles to pass through sensors without stopping, provided they have valid electronic toll tags.

This shift is part of the central government’s broader initiative to digitize national highway infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of road travel across India. By reducing transit times and fuel wastage associated with idle queuing, the project aims to improve economic throughput on one of the country's busiest industrial arterial routes. The system relies on the existing FASTag infrastructure, ensuring that payments are processed automatically while vehicles remain at highway speeds.

Authorities anticipate that this technological upgrade will significantly decrease congestion at major toll collection points. Commuters and logistics operators are encouraged to ensure their toll accounts maintain sufficient balances, as the system will strictly enforce electronic deductions without physical intervention. Similar trials in other regions have shown promise in decreasing the carbon footprint and improving overall logistics efficiency across the national highway network.
