Netflix Unveils Operation Safed Sagar Trailer on Kargil War

Netflix has released the official trailer for its highly anticipated military drama series, Operation Safed Sagar, showcasing the Indian Air Force’s high-altitude campaign during the 1999 Kargil War. The production stars Siddharth as Squadron Leader Ajay Ahuja and Jimmy Shergill as Wing Commander B.S. Dhanoa. This ambitious series chronicles how the Golden Arrows Squadron supported the Indian Army after enemy forces occupied strategic mountainous heights. The military drama will premiere globally on August 7, 2026, offering a deep dive into physical combat and the emotional trials of military families.

Director Oni Sen filmed the series across operational Indian Air Force bases to ensure maximum realism and authenticity. The production crew secured access to genuine military aircraft and infrastructure, reconstructing intense high-altitude combat environments. Writers Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava conducted exhaustive research by consulting veterans and families connected to the actual 1999 mission. Retired Air Chief Marshal B.S. Dhanoa, who led the actual squadron, provided guidance to ensure the series accurately depicts the challenges of the world’s highest air operation.

The creators intend for the series to act as a powerful tribute to military courage while inspiring the next generation of Indians to serve. Retired Air Chief Marshal Dhanoa expressed his hope that the cinematic depiction will motivate young citizens to join the Indian Air Force.
