US Deports Far-Right Provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos to United Kingdom

United States authorities have deported British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos back to the United Kingdom following his arrest in New Orleans. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detained the 41-year-old on Thursday at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Yiannopoulos overstayed his visa after entering the country legally in May 2019. An immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to attend his scheduled hearing. Homeland Security spokespersons emphasized that the administration remains committed to enforcing all federal immigration laws.

Yiannopoulos has historically voiced strong support for immediate deportations and strict immigration enforcement in the United States. His arrest occurred while he was traveling to a concert by the rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Yiannopoulos previously worked on the political campaigns of Ye and served as an intern for US political figures. His deportation follows a long-standing public feud with fellow far-right commentator Laura Loomer, who claimed she reported his expired immigration status to federal authorities. Loomer celebrated the removal publicly on social media.

The Department of Homeland Security utilized this high-profile deportation to encourage other visa overstayers to self-deport. Government officials stated that individuals who remain in the United States illegally face immediate removal without any opportunity to return through legal channels.
