KRAFTON India Announces Major Esports Tournaments and BGMI Content Updates

KRAFTON India has significantly expanded the BGMI experience with the 4.5 update, released on July 16, 2026. The update features a high-profile collaboration with the Naruto franchise, introducing themed locations like Konohagakure and special combat skills such as Rasengan and Chidori. Additionally, the game has reintroduced a Spider-Man collaboration and integrated Ferrari supercars, marking a strategic move to position BGMI as a comprehensive entertainment and social platform rather than a traditional battle royale title.

Alongside content updates, KRAFTON India has unveiled its esports roadmap for the second half of 2026. The schedule includes two major tournaments: the BGMI International Cup (BMIC) Season 2 and the BGMI Showdown (BMSD). The BMIC Season 2 Grand Finals will be held offline in Mumbai from October 30 to November 1, 2026, featuring 16 teams from India, South Korea, and Japan, with a prize pool of approximately ₹1 Crore. The BMSD, an invite-only national championship, will also feature a ₹1 Crore prize pool and culminate in a live LAN event from October 16–18, 2026.

India's presence in the global esports arena is also growing, with NODWIN Gaming announcing the national roster for the inaugural Esports Nations Cup (ENC) 2026 in Honor of Kings. The Indian team, featuring players like Rahul Lavhate and Aashish Chouhan, will compete in Riyadh from November 24 to 29 for a prize pool of approximately USD 1.32 million (around ₹12.5 crore). These developments reflect a concerted effort to elevate India's competitive gaming profile through both domestic championships and international cross-regional play.
