The controversy centers on the alleged illegal transfer of crores of rupees from the state-run Valmiki Corporation to various private bank accounts. This development surfaced after an official of the corporation died by suicide, leaving a note detailing the pressure to facilitate the illegal transactions. Since then, the Enforcement Directorate and local investigation agencies have been probing the money trail. The BJP alleges that the top brass of the Congress-led government was aware of these activities. They argue that the diverted funds were meant for the welfare of tribal communities, making the scam a serious social injustice.
