Jharkhand Student Protests Intensify As Government Talks Deadlock

The demonstration by JPSC and JSSC aspirants in Ranchi has entered its 15th day as the second round of negotiations between student leaders and the state government ended without a breakthrough. Protesters are demanding transparency and immediate reforms in the state's recruitment examinations, citing systemic delays and irregularities. Despite high-level meetings, student factions have declared that the stir will continue until their specific demands for exam rescheduling and result transparency are met through formal orders.

Tension escalated in Ranchi as members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) clashed with police personnel near the Chief Minister’s residence. Security forces detained approximately 8 to 10 protesters following a scuffle that broke out when the group attempted to breach barricades. Meanwhile, the sentiment of student unrest has spread to other regions, with NEET aspirants in Visakhapatnam staging a silent protest at the Gandhi statue. These candidates, wearing black ribbons, are seeking a periodic review of the reservation system and the implementation of uniform minimum qualifying marks for all applicants.

In an effort to de-escalate the situation, the Jharkhand government has opened a dedicated email channel to receive direct feedback and grievances from the protesting students. Authorities stated that this platform aims to ensure every aspirant's voice is heard following the inconclusive second round of talks. However, the student unions remain skeptical, demanding concrete legislative or executive action rather than digital feedback portals. The continued deadlock suggests that major educational and administrative activities in the state capital will remain disrupted as both sides hold their ground.
