ISRO Outlines Ambitious Space Goals As Odisha Startups Gain National Recognition

ISRO Chairman V Narayanan has announced ambitious long-term goals for India’s space program, including the establishment of an indigenous space station by 2035. Furthermore, the agency aims to land an Indian astronaut on the Moon by 2040 using an indigenous rocket. To achieve these milestones, Narayanan emphasized the necessity of enhanced collaboration between educational institutions, private firms, and research organizations, aligning with India’s broader objective of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

A key focus for ISRO is the indigenous development of critical astronaut technologies. Currently, India relies on foreign sources for essential equipment such as astronaut suits, crew seats, and viewports for the Gaganyaan missions. The government has now approved the domestic design and development of these systems, with prototype hardware already in progress. This shift is vital for achieving true self-reliance in human spaceflight capabilities.

In a parallel development, three startups from Odisha received national recognition at a special exhibition at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Selected under the Atal Innovation Mission, these startups showcased diverse solutions: GARGI Automated & Robotic Gadget Industries presented assistive technologies for persons with disabilities; Newrup Tech Solutions exhibited a clean-cooking solution; and Urban-Hyphae Bioscience displayed sustainable mushroom-based leather alternatives. These innovations highlight the growing impact of state-led startup initiatives in fostering grassroots technological advancement across India.
