Israel Approves Tender for 627 New Settler Housing Units in West Bank

Israel issued a construction tender for 627 new housing units within the Kochav Yaakov settlement located in the occupied West Bank. Published by the Israel Land Authority, the tender designated a 253-dunam area on lands belonging to the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate. Development companies have until November 30, 2026, to submit formal bids for project implementation.

According to the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, the project has advanced from planning approvals secured in April 2025 into active marketing and construction phases. Palestinian monitors noted that authorities advanced multiple colonial construction tenders encompassing over one thousand housing units across various settlements during the first half of the year.

Palestinian officials warned that the settlement expansion deepens geographic separation between Jerusalem and surrounding West Bank areas. International bodies, including the United Nations, maintain that such settlements lack legal validity and constitute violations of international law, compounding friction across the region.
