The documents, which were leaked by the World Leaks ransomware group, identify a new Sony IMX905 sensor as the primary imaging component for these devices. This hardware update is expected to provide users with greater flexibility in varying light conditions, enabling physical adjustment of the lens opening for better control over depth of field and light intake.

The log indicates that while the aperture mechanism is a significant upgrade, other aspects of the camera system remain largely consistent with the iPhone 17 series. The pixel size remains 1.22 micrometers, suggesting the physical aperture actuator is the main differentiator rather than a major shift in sensor dimensions. The telephoto, ultrawide, and selfie cameras are also expected to remain largely unchanged from the previous generation.
