Indore Sets Environmental Record With 13.10 Lakh Trees

Indore’s Reoti Range has officially entered the Asia Book of World Records after successfully nurturing 13,10,012 trees. This environmental milestone was achieved following a dedicated two-year effort to protect and grow saplings planted during a massive 2024 plantation drive. The recognition solidifies Indore’s reputation as a leader in urban environmental initiatives beyond its well-known status as India’s cleanest city. A certification ceremony celebrated the collective effort of the local administration, forest department, and thousands of citizen volunteers.

The record-setting forest was raised using a systematic approach that prioritized post-planting care, which is often a failure point in large-scale drives. For two years, the Reoti Range was closely monitored to ensure high survival rates for the varied indigenous species. On Sunday, August 9, 2026, the initiative received further momentum as senior BJP leader BL Santosh joined a new drive to plant an additional 51,000 trees in the area. This latest phase aims to expand the existing green cover and create a robust urban forest ecosystem.
