Haridwar Mob Assaults Man Over Inter-Faith Meeting

A Muslim man was subjected to severe physical assault by a mob of approximately 10 to 12 unidentified individuals in Haridwar this Saturday. The attackers forced their way into a residence where the victim was visiting a friend he had known for five years. The mob allegedly tied a dog leash around the man’s neck, subjected him to verbal abuse, and held him for several hours before police intervened to provide medical assistance. The victim, a resident of Haryana, suffered visible injuries during the three-hour ordeal.

The local police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on the complainant’s statement, invoking multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The charges include rioting, house trespass, criminal intimidation, and intentional insult aimed at provoking a breach of public peace. Family members of the woman residing at the house have expressed deep concern regarding the security of their private residence after the mob forcefully entered the premises. Authorities are currently reviewing video evidence of the incident to identify the suspects involved in the assault.

As of Sunday, no arrests have been made, though city police officials confirmed that the investigation is actively underway. Circle Officer Shishupal Singh Negi stated that footage collection remains the current priority to identify the attackers and ensure accountability for the violence. The incident has drawn attention to public safety and vigilante activities in the area. Law enforcement remains under pressure to expedite the identification process and maintain order following this highly publicized display of public hostility and targeted harassment.
