Government Unveils Comprehensive IndiaAI Governance Guidelines For Responsible Tech Adoption

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has officially launched the IndiaAI Governance Guidelines, a strategic framework designed to ensure the safe and inclusive deployment of artificial intelligence across the nation. Formally presented by Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood and Secretary S. Krishnan, the policy establishes seven core principles, or sutras, which prioritize trust, fairness, accountability, and sustainability in all AI-driven operations.

To enforce these standards, the government is establishing dedicated bodies including an AI Governance Group and a specialized Technology & Policy Expert Committee. Furthermore, the creation of the IndiaAI Safety Institute marks a significant step toward continuous monitoring and capacity building, ensuring that the rapid integration of AI technologies remains aligned with national security and public interest goals.

This initiative builds upon existing legal frameworks while incorporating extensive public feedback to create a robust ecosystem for innovation. By focusing on a people-first approach, the government aims to mitigate risks associated with automated systems while fostering an environment where responsible AI can thrive, ultimately positioning India as a global leader in ethical technology development by the end of the year.
