Government Simplifies NEET-UG 2026 Counselling

The government has introduced a streamlined framework for the NEET-UG 2026 counselling process to improve transparency and efficiency for medical aspirants. Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda recently reviewed the preparedness of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to ensure the timely execution of seat allotments across the country.

The updated framework introduces a one-time physical reporting requirement for candidates, significantly reducing the administrative burden on students and their families. Furthermore, the inclusion of an online seat resignation option is a key change, designed to eliminate the logistical hurdles often associated with the previous manual reporting and surrender systems. These adjustments follow a series of stakeholder consultations aimed at rectifying inconsistencies in the previous admission cycles.

These changes are critical for the lakhs of students vying for All India Quota (AIQ) seats. By digitizing the resignation process and consolidating physical reporting requirements, the ministry expects a smoother admission flow.
