G S Patil Elected Karnataka Speaker Amid Opposition Boycott

Congress MLA Gurupadagouda Sanganagouda Patil, widely known as G S Patil, was elected as the Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Friday. The election took place in Bengaluru with Chief Minister D K Shivakumar formally proposing Patil's name for the prestigious post. The motion was seconded by Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, consolidating the ruling party's choice. Pro-tem Speaker T B Jayachandra presided over the session and officially declared G S Patil elected after the procedural formalities were completed in the house.
