Doda Firing Incident: One Dead, Three SOG Personnel Injured

A deadly confrontation occurred late Thursday night in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, resulting in the death of 30-year-old Aarif Hussain from Cheeka village. The incident took place along the Jaie-Gandoh road when a Special Operations Group (SOG) team, engaged in an ambush following reports of suspicious activity, encountered the suspect who allegedly attempted to snatch a service rifle from an officer.

Three SOG personnel sustained injuries during the ensuing scuffle, during which an SOG jawan opened fire. All injured individuals, including the suspect, were transported to the Sub-District Hospital in Bhaderwah before being transferred to the Government Medical College in Doda for specialized treatment, where Hussain later succumbed to his injuries. A local religious preacher has been taken into detention for questioning, though his specific connection to the incident remains under investigation.

Authorities have intensified security measures in Bhaderwah town by deploying additional police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) units as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, the Army has launched a comprehensive search operation in the high-altitude Jaie region to track any further suspicious movements. The situation remains tense as investigators work to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged weapon snatching attempt and the subsequent lethal engagement.
