Clément Vandenkerckhove has been officially recognized as the son of Belgium's Prince Laurent following formal procedures before a civil registrar. A DNA test confirmed a 99.5 percent match between Prince Laurent and the 26-year-old former car salesman, ending decades of public speculation.

Clément is the son of Prince Laurent and Flemish singer Iris Vandenkerckhove, known professionally as Wendy Van Wanten. He first discovered his royal heritage at age 16 and later initiated contact with his biological father, who publicly acknowledged his paternity in September 2025.

While Clément is entitled to use the royal title of Prince of Belgium and share in his father's private estate alongside his half-siblings, he will receive no public funds. Due to his birth out of wedlock, he holds no official royal duties and remains excluded from the line of succession.
