Indian applicants seeking Canadian work permits from outside the country currently face a nine-week wait.

Several factors drive these processing timelines. IRCC calculates wait times based on the volume of applications and its monthly processing capacity. India is one of the top three source nations for international students in Canada, leading to high application volumes. To protect system integrity, Canadian authorities perform extensive background and fraud checks. These rigorous audits target fake bank statements and forged admission letters, which adds time to standard processing. Furthermore, biometrics appointment backlogs in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad often delay applications by one to three weeks during peak seasons.
