Activision and Infinity Ward have confirmed the testing schedule for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The early access beta begins on August 21 and runs through August 25 for players who have pre-ordered the game on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S. Following this initial period, an open beta phase will commence on August 28 and continue until September 1. This second phase will be accessible to all players across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, regardless of pre-order status.

The playtest kick-off follows the Call of Duty: NEXT event, which is scheduled for August 21. This presentation will provide an in-depth look at the multiplayer content, offering developer insights, live gameplay, and new reveals before players transition to the beta. The event serves as the primary promotional window to showcase the game's new features, including the Training Mobility Course, the Gunny loadout system, and the newly revealed Kill Block map. Activision confirmed that participants will be able to test a variety of modes ranging from 3v3 skirmishes to large-scale battles featuring tactical vehicles and tanks.

Players will have access to 19 distinct weapons and a diverse roster of Operators, with exclusive Vault Edition characters available for those who pre-ordered. Notably, this release marks the return of the franchise to Nintendo platforms, with Switch 2 pre-orders opening on August 26. While the title introduces significant tactical enhancements like the new Aston Martin-designed SUV, it will not launch on Xbox Game Pass.
