Andhra Pradesh Reports 12 COVID-19 Cases Amid Fresh Advisory

Andhra Pradesh has recorded 12 confirmed COVID-19 infections and four deaths between June 26 and July 16, 2026. All four fatalities occurred in patients with underlying health conditions, such as diabetes and kidney disease, with cases spread across Kadapa, Guntur, Visakhapatnam, and Kakinada districts. Health authorities report that three patients remain in home isolation, two are hospitalized, and three have already recovered.

Health Commissioner G. Veerapandian has downplayed concerns of a major resurgence, characterizing the current infections as sporadic incidents. The state government has activated a dedicated COVID-19 control room and established Rapid Response Teams to monitor ILI and SARI cases closely. Additionally, five samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune for genomic sequencing to identify circulating variants.

The Andhra Pradesh Health Department has issued updated safety guidelines, strongly recommending that citizens resume mask usage and maintain standard hygiene practices. Hospitals are currently upgrading their infection control protocols, including the preparation of isolation wards and ensuring stable supplies of RT-PCR kits and protective equipment. Officials continue to advise booster doses for vulnerable populations to counter waning immunity as the state manages these localized clusters.
