Govt Confirms No Defects in Air India Dreamliner Fuel Switch

During the Monsoon Session of the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, confirmed that an expert examination revealed no defects in the fuel control switch of the Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner involved in a recent incident at Bengaluru. The investigation followed a directive from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM)-level audit to ensure safety standards were met.

The OEM-level examination was part of a routine and rigorous 'continuing airworthiness' assessment initiated immediately after the event. The government assured lawmakers that the technical integrity of the fleet remains intact, dismissing concerns regarding systemic failures in the aircraft's fuel management system.

This official response underscores the government's focus on maintaining strict aviation safety protocols across India’s growing fleet of long-haul aircraft. By publicly addressing these concerns in Parliament, the Ministry aims to maintain public confidence in airline operations, ensuring that potential technical anomalies are subject to transparent and thorough independent verification by international manufacturing standards.
