Meta Launches Enterprise AI Platform, Hires MongoDB CEO CJ Desai
Meta Platforms has launched the Meta Enterprise Platform, a new business unit designed to commercialize its artificial intelligence stack for corporate customers. To lead this initiative, Meta has hired Chirantan CJ Desai, the former CEO of database software firm MongoDB, who will serve as chief enterprise platform officer reporting directly to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Expanding the AI Stack to Enterprise
The new platform aims to transition Meta from a consumer-facing AI provider to an enterprise-grade service provider. The initial product lineup includes the Muse AI assistant, the Meta Business Agent, Muse Code, and the Muse API. Meta intends to leverage its existing relationships with millions of businesses and advertisers to drive adoption of these tools. The company has emphasized that security and privacy are foundational to the new offering, with plans to introduce a Muse Confidential VM later this year that isolates instances to prevent Meta from accessing customer data.
The upcoming Muse Confidential VM design aims to utilize a Trusted Execution Environment so that customer information remains shielded from Meta's direct access.
Technical Capabilities and Market Positioning
Meta is positioning its AI stack as a high-performance alternative for enterprise operations. The Muse Code tool features an agent fan-out mechanism that distributes complex programming tasks across multiple subagents to accelerate processing. Additionally, the company recently debuted its Muse Spark 1.3 large language model, which Meta claims outperforms GPT-5.6 Sol on the AutomationBench benchmark. Engineers have focused on cost-efficiency, noting that the new model uses approximately 25% fewer tokens for coding tasks compared to its predecessor.
Leadership Transition and Market Reaction
Desai joins Meta following an 11-month tenure as CEO of MongoDB. His departure triggered a significant market reaction, with MongoDB shares falling more than 17% on the news. MongoDB has appointed former CEO Dev Ittycheria to return as interim chief executive while the board conducts a search for a permanent successor. While Meta has not yet disclosed specific pricing, contractual controls, or administrative features for the new platform, the move signals a strategic push to monetize the company's substantial investments in AI infrastructure. The initiative follows Meta's previous attempts to enter the enterprise software market, including the now-discontinued Workplace and Horizon Workrooms products.
According to Meta Newsroom, meta's recruitment of CJ Desai mirrors Google's 2015 hire of VMware founder Diane Greene, bringing an established enterprise infrastructure executive to build a credible B2B commercial division within a consumer-centric tech giant.
According to DataCamp, muse Spark 1.3 leads frontier enterprise models in software engineering benchmarks, scoring 75.4 on DeepSWE v1.1 and 59.4 on SWEAtlas, surpassing Claude Opus 5 (74.0 and 52.7) and GPT-5.6 Sol (73.0 and 53.5).
