Volkswagen Teases Lower-Spec Tayron Before India Launch

Volkswagen has officially teased the lower-spec variant of its Tayron SUV ahead of the scheduled India launch on 10 July 2026. The teaser confirms design elements that distinguish this more accessible model from the previously launched R-Line version. Viewers can expect a new alloy wheel design and a slightly altered front fascia, maintaining the brand's connected LED lighting signature.

The introduction of this lower-spec trim follows Volkswagen’s strategy to provide a more affordable entry point into its premium SUV segment. While the R-Line model currently serves as the top-tier offering at Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the new variant aims to capture a broader market segment by retaining key technical strengths. The interior is also expected to feature a dual-tone finish, differentiating it from the all-black theme of the sportier R-Line variant.

Under the hood, the lower-spec Tayron is anticipated to feature the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 204hp and 320Nm of torque. Power will likely be routed to all four wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). Upon its debut, this model will go head-to-head with established rivals such as the Skoda Kodiaq and the Jeep Meridian, marking a significant push for Volkswagen to solidify its presence in the competitive Indian SUV space.
