Vinfast Patents Mystery Electric Scooter in India Amid Launch Speculations

The Vietnamese electric mobility firm, Vinfast, has filed a patent in India for a new, previously unseen electric scooter. While currently focused on four-wheeler production at its manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, the brand's latest intellectual property move suggests an intent to expand its portfolio into the rapidly growing Indian two-wheeler market.

Industry experts have noted that the design resembles the existing Vinfast Viper scooter, leading to speculation that this could be a 'Gen 2' or 'Viper II' model. The design incorporates mature aesthetics, including revised LED headlights, sharper front fenders, and a new rear bat-wing-like tail light, while retaining core features like a 14-inch alloy wheel setup and a flat floorboard.

As India sees a surge in electric two-wheeler sales, with several state governments moving towards mandate-driven registrations, Vinfast aims to position itself as a key player. The company has already established a presence in the electric car sector, and introducing a localized scooter lineup would represent a significant escalation in its competitive strategy for the Indian EV space.
