UAE Etihad Rail Service Set for Historic June 30 Launch

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is preparing for the highly anticipated June 30 launch of its inaugural passenger train service, connecting the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. Operated by a joint venture between Etihad Rail and Keolis, the service marks a major infrastructure achievement following the UAE Railway Programme announced in 2021. The new line promises a transit time of just 105 minutes, significantly enhancing connectivity between major economic and tourism hubs in the region.

Demand for the service has been robust, with reports indicating that initial tickets are already sold out through July 5. The fleet includes 13 trains, each capable of carrying up to 400 passengers across comfort and premium classes. Fares start at AED 55 (approximately Rs 1,413), with the service operating three trains daily. The infrastructure project is part of a broader vision to link 11 cities across the country, with stations in Dubai and Al Dhaid scheduled for completion in September 2026.
