Threads Expands Live Chats With Translation And Hosting Tools

Meta’s Threads platform is upgrading its Live Chats feature by introducing real-time translation support and enhanced hosting controls. These updates aim to improve accessibility and user engagement, with hosts now able to invite up to three co-hosts and delete messages for all participants. The platform is also testing a visual update to make host messages more prominent within active chat windows.

Meta is expanding the ability to host Live Chats to a selected group of Community Champions, users recognized for their consistent engagement and established followings. This move responds to direct feedback from creators, as the platform sees hundreds of daily sessions with thousands of active participants. The company aims to strengthen real-time interactions, building on a user base that surpassed 500 million monthly active users last month.

Looking forward, Meta is developing desktop support and pinned messages to further streamline the experience. While currently supporting 150 active participants per chat, these tools reflect an effort to compete more effectively in the real-time social space. The continued growth of the platform provides a significant alternative for Indian users who increasingly utilize social apps for community interaction and digital content consumption.
