Sonam Wangchuk Health Deteriorates on Hunger Strike

Environmental activist and educator Sonam Wangchuk continues his indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, marking his 17th day of protest. Recent health reports indicate significant weight loss, dizziness, and low blood sugar levels, causing concern among his supporters and observers. Despite requests from activists like Arundhati Roy to end the fast, Wangchuk remains committed to his cause until the government engages in dialogue.

The strike is part of a broader movement led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which advocates for structural educational reforms following the cancellation of entrance examinations due to paper leaks. Wangchuk is specifically demanding government accountability regarding the mismanagement of exams and the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
