Shashank Singh Faces Police Probe Following Assault Allegations

Punjab Kings cricketer Shashank Singh and his father, Shailesh Singh, have been booked by Bhopal Police following a complaint from a domestic cook. The complainant, 31-year-old Vipendra Singh Tomar, alleged that the pair, along with their driver, physically assaulted him and held him against his will at their residence in Mendori village. Tomar claims he was subjected to verbal abuse and intimidation when he expressed a desire to quit his employment on his first day.

Tomar stated that he arrived to work for the family but quickly felt overwhelmed by the working conditions and the alleged hostile environment. According to his formal complaint, the situation escalated when he requested to leave, leading to his mobile phone being confiscated and an alleged physical confrontation. Medical examinations conducted by local authorities confirmed visible injury marks on the complainant's body. The FIR was registered at the Ratibad Police Station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those for voluntary assault and joint criminal liability.

Shashank Singh has publicly denied these allegations, characterizing the incident as a dispute over privacy. The cricketer stated that the cook was hired under false pretenses and was discovered taking unauthorized private photographs within the household. He maintains that no physical abuse occurred and claims the family considered contacting the police themselves after the situation regarding the alleged photography arose. The matter remains under active investigation by the Bhopal Police as both sides provide conflicting accounts of the events that led to the filing of the case.
