India Observes National Mourning Following Death of Qatar’s Former Emir

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir of Qatar, has passed away at the age of 74. Known for his transformative influence, the late leader seized power in a 1995 bloodless coup and oversaw the modernization of Qatar’s economy, primarily by exploiting the nation's immense natural gas reserves. His legacy includes the establishment of the Al Jazeera Media Network, which shifted global media dynamics and solidified Qatar’s role as a key geopolitical player in the Middle East until he abdicated in 2013 in favor of his son, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
