Narottam Mishra Supporters Protest After BJP Ticket Snub

Supporters of former Madhya Pradesh Minister Narottam Mishra staged intense protests in Datia following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) decision to deny him a ticket for the upcoming July 30 by-election. The demonstrations escalated into clashes with police, resulting in a 12-hour blockade of National Highway 44. Local officials confirmed that the Datia superintendent of police and several officers sustained injuries during the confrontation, which was eventually cleared by security forces who made multiple arrests.

Amid the widespread unrest, Narottam Mishra held high-level discussions with the Madhya Pradesh BJP leadership at the Chief Minister’s residence. The political tension stems from the party's choice to field Ashutosh Tiwari in the by-election instead of Mishra, a move that has clearly alienated segments of the local party base.
