The crimes were initially overlooked as victims were misdiagnosed with natural causes, such as heart attacks. The pattern was only uncovered after a younger resident survived a similar attempt, leading to the registration of eight separate FIRs. This case has drawn significant attention to the lack of oversight in rural death investigations.
