Mercedes-Benz India has issued a formal advisory to address consumer concerns regarding the use of E20 ethanol-blended petrol in its vehicles. The clarification follows viral claims by a social media influencer who reported a drastic drop in fuel efficiency, plummeting from 17 to 5 units of mileage after refueling. In response, the automaker clarified that all its BS VI-compliant petrol vehicles are engineered to be fully compatible with current E20 fuel standards, suggesting that the vehicle's hardware is not the cause of the reported performance decline.

Industry experts and the automaker have flagged that the real challenge lies in the supply chain rather than the ethanol content itself.
