Madras High Court Declares Appavu Winner of 2016 Election After Decade-Long Battle

The Madras High Court has officially declared M. Appavu, the current Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, as the rightful winner of the 2016 Radhapuram constituency elections. This landmark ruling concludes a legal saga that spanned ten years, following a recounting of postal ballots that overturned the initial result. In the original 2016 count, Appavu was declared to have lost to AIADMK’s I.S. Inbadurai by a razor-thin margin of just 49 votes. The recount validated Appavu’s long-standing claims of administrative irregularities and errors during the initial tallying process.
