Kerala Police Suspends Personnel for Consuming Alcohol on Duty

The Kerala Police force has taken firm disciplinary action following multiple reports of personnel consuming alcohol while on duty. That incident involved officers in civilian attire consuming alcohol inside a car parked directly in front of the police station near Technopark. The video of the encounter went viral, causing considerable public outcry and prompting a high-level inquiry. The personnel involved in both incidents have been ordered to undergo mandatory conduct training to address these recurring behavioral lapses.

Beyond drinking-related offenses, the Kerala police are also addressing other systemic issues, including the recent suspension of a Station House Officer (SHO) related to the disappearance of valuables from a police station. Senior leadership has reiterated that such actions are unacceptable, especially during high-security operations. Previous disciplinary measures included the suspension of a high-ranking officer during a state visit by the Union Home Minister in late 2025.
