Karnataka Electoral Roll Revision Surpasses 50% Milestone

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka has achieved a major milestone, with the distribution of enumeration forms exceeding the 50% threshold. As of July 4, 2026, state authorities reported that over 2.78 crore forms have been distributed across the state. This comprehensive process, which encompasses both house-to-house physical enumeration and digitization, began on June 30 and remains scheduled to conclude on July 29, 2026.

Efficiency varies by region, with 6,352 polling stations, or approximately 10.76% of the state's total, having already completed 100% of their form distribution. Another 5,538 stations have reached the 90% completion mark. Digitization is progressing in parallel, with over 17.88 lakh forms processed, accounting for 3.23% of the total electorate. Online submissions currently represent 0.14% of the process, involving 77,624 electors, as Booth Level Officers continue to verify voter data at the ground level.

A critical component of the revision is the identification of inaccurate entries, such as those that are absent, shifted, or deceased. Officials have designated 28,611 electors under the ASDDO category, which includes 13,859 confirmed deceased voters. These efforts are part of maintaining a clean and accurate electoral roll, based on a total registered base of over 5.54 crore electors as recorded on June 16, 2026. This intensive exercise aims to ensure electoral transparency and accuracy ahead of upcoming administrative and legislative requirements.
