Karimnagar Police To Expand CCTV Surveillance With 700 Cameras

Karimnagar Police Commissionerate announced plans to deploy an additional 700 CCTV cameras across its jurisdiction to enhance public safety and surveillance. Police Commissioner Gaush Alam made the announcement on July 9, 2026, following the inauguration of 21 new cameras in the Huzurabad division, specifically in Saidabad and Korapalli villages. This expansion represents a broader effort to modernize local law enforcement capabilities through technology-driven monitoring systems.

The move follows several significant surveillance initiatives in the region over the past five years. Karimnagar town was brought under a comprehensive surveillance network in June 2025 as part of the Smart City project. More recently, in April 2026, the Siddipet police launched a massive project to secure a 100-kilometer stretch of highway between Siddipet and Karimnagar. Previous installations, dating back to December 2020, have demonstrated that high-density CCTV coverage is effective in reducing criminal activity and monitoring traffic violations in urban and rural areas.

The installation of 700 new cameras is part of a push toward total village surveillance, with the goal of covering all major transit points and localities within six months. By integrating these systems with existing infrastructure, the commissionerate intends to improve response times for emergency services and enhance criminal investigation capabilities. The expansion serves as a deterrent to crime while providing citizens with a greater sense of security. The project is expected to be completed in phases, with priority given to high-traffic zones and areas identified as prone to safety concerns.
