India Set for Two-Test Series in Sri Lanka Starting August 15

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is set for a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, marking its first visit for the format since 2017. Sri Lanka Cricket officially confirmed the schedule on July 2, 2026, as part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2025-2027 cycle. The opening match is slated for August 15 to 19 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, followed by the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo from August 23 to 27.

Currently, India holds the fifth position in the World Test Championship standings, while Sri Lanka sits just behind in sixth place. Both nations view this series as a critical opportunity to bolster their points tally. To prepare for the challenging conditions, an India A squad is already on the ground in Galle conducting a two-match red-ball shadow tour, with Dhruv Jurel leading the side. This early arrival allows players to acclimatize to local spin-friendly wickets before the senior team arrives.
