BCCI To Review India’s Cricket Form After T20 Series Losses

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed it will conduct a formal review of the men’s cricket team following disappointing results in Ireland and England. Secretary Devajit Saikia announced that the review will take place after the ongoing tour concludes, focusing on addressing the team’s recent shortcomings in overseas conditions. The team, currently led by captain Shreyas Iyer, has struggled to find consistency, losing back-to-back T20I series despite entering the tour as favorites.

India’s performance has been described as a ‘bad phase,’ with the team failing to adapt to challenging conditions during the Ireland tour and the ongoing five-match T20I series against England. England has secured a 3-0 lead in the series, with captain Harry Brook expressing surprise at the lopsided nature of the results. The much-anticipated debut of IPL Orange Cap winner Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has not met expectations, adding to the frustration surrounding the team’s recent form.

The BCCI remains optimistic that the transition to the ODI format, which features senior leaders Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will facilitate a turnaround in performance. The review meeting, scheduled for after July 19, aims to exclusively discuss tactical and performance-based issues rather than unrelated administrative matters.
