The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed 21 states under a 24-hour high-alert status due to a severe weather system bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and intense gusty winds. The forecast warns of wind speeds reaching up to 80 kmph in several regions, necessitating extreme caution for residents as the monsoon season continues its advance across the country.

This weather instability is currently affecting parts of North India, where the IMD reports lightning and gusty winds, while isolated pockets in the south and coastal areas like Visakhapatnam face similar turbulent conditions. In areas such as Visakhapatnam, temperatures have been recorded reaching nearly 40 degrees Celsius, underscoring a complex pattern of shifting heatwaves and heavy precipitation as the monsoon tracks further inland.

Authorities are urging citizens to monitor local weather bulletins as the system creates significant volatility.
