Health Ministry Launches Digital Health Suite to Boost Access

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda is set to unveil a comprehensive suite of digital health initiatives on June 29, 2026, in New Delhi. Developed by the National Health Authority and the National Resource Centre for EHR Standards, these tools are designed to modernize India's healthcare infrastructure. The rollout focuses on interoperability and the seamless exchange of medical data, aiming to bridge the gap between patients, hospitals, and insurers.

The centerpiece is the redesigned Arogya Setu 2.0, which now functions as a robust Personal Health Record (PHR) application. Users can manage their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), integrate wearable device data, and handle outpatient registrations. Complementing this, the upgraded Ayushman App will provide PM-JAY beneficiaries with real-time eligibility verification and grievance redressal, while the new Ayushman Sarathi WhatsApp chatbot offers a conversational interface for last-mile service access.

Beyond consumer-facing apps, the initiative introduces the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX) to standardize claim processing between hospitals and insurers, significantly reducing administrative delays. Furthermore, the launch includes the Drug Registry and Bharat Health Terminology Service (BHTS) to standardize medical data and laboratory information. These foundational standards are critical for creating a unified digital public infrastructure, ensuring that health records are accessible and consistent across the country's diverse healthcare ecosystem.
