General Dhiraj Seth Takes Charge as Army Chief

General Dhiraj Seth has officially taken charge as the 31st Chief of Army Staff. Upon assuming his role, he introduced the 'VIJAY' roadmap, which aims to guide the modernization of the Indian Army. This strategy focuses on building a future-ready, technology-enabled force that is capable of responding to evolving security threats across multiple domains. Gen. Seth emphasized the importance of self-reliance, jointness, and innovation as the core tenets of his tenure.

The strategy is built on five pillars represented by the acronym 'VIJAY'. 'V' stands for Vigilance, 'I' for Innovation and Transformation, 'J' for Jointness and Integration, 'A' for Atmanirbharta (Self-reliance), and 'Y' for Yodha First. Gen. Seth highlighted that his leadership will focus on integrating military-civil capabilities and maintaining strong synergy with the Air Force and Navy to bolster overall operational effectiveness. He reiterated that national security requires a whole-of-nation approach to support India's long-term development goals.

As a core element of the plan, the Army Chief emphasized the empowerment of the soldier, or 'Yodha'. He pledged to improve technological training and welfare standards for all personnel, including veterans and their families. Gen. Seth assured the nation of the Army's preparedness to protect territorial sovereignty, framing his strategic outlook within the government's broader 'JAI' mantra—Jointness, Atmanirbharta, and Innovation—to build a combat-ready force for the future.
