Renault Duster vs Volkswagen Taigun: Testing Climate Control Performance in India's Summer

Autocar India conducted a rigorous climate control evaluation of the Renault Duster and Volkswagen Taigun during peak summer conditions in India, with ambient temperatures reaching 42.2 degrees Celsius. The test simulated a worst-case scenario where vehicles were parked in direct sunlight for two hours before monitoring cooling efficiency across both front and rear cabin zones.

The Volkswagen Taigun demonstrated superior cooling capacity, achieving a notable 23.5-degree Celsius drop in the front cabin temperature over a 16-minute interval. The Renault Duster followed closely, recording a 20.7-degree Celsius reduction at the front. Both vehicles effectively managed cabin temperatures, though the Taigun consistently maintained a lower baseline at the rear during the cooling process.

Using thermocouple sensors, the test measured airflow and cabin temperature near occupant levels to reflect practical usage. While these results highlight specific engineering differences, factors such as humidity levels and personal settings significantly influence individual experiences. This analysis provides a transparent look at how midsize SUVs handle the extreme heat common across Indian geography during the summer months.
