Delhi Airport Launches Air Suvidha 2.0 for Ebola Surveillance

In response to the ongoing Ebola disease outbreak, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) have launched the AIR SUVIDHA 2.0 portal. This upgraded, contactless Passenger Health Self-Declaration Portal is designed to strengthen public health surveillance at India's points of entry. International arriving passengers are now required to submit a mandatory online health self-declaration, providing detailed information regarding their 21-day travel history, potential exposure to the virus, and any related symptoms before they can clear immigration.

This proactive measure follows the World Health Organization's (WHO) declaration of the Ebola/Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on May 17, 2026. By digitizing the declaration process, Indian authorities aim to minimize physical contact and expedite the screening of high-risk travelers, ensuring that potential cases are identified and isolated immediately upon arrival at major international hubs.

The implementation of AIR SUVIDHA 2.0 represents a shift toward more agile, technology-driven health monitoring. Travelers arriving from affected regions will be subject to stricter scrutiny, and the portal will serve as a centralized database for health authorities to track potential risks in real-time. This system is part of India's broader commitment to maintaining robust border health security, building on lessons learned from previous global health crises to protect the domestic population from imported infectious diseases.
