CBI Probes Border Roads Organisation Fund Misuse

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a widespread probe into the alleged misappropriation of funds within the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Agents conducted synchronized searches at twenty-six locations across eleven states and Union Territories as part of this crackdown. The investigation centers on four criminal cases involving financial irregularities, specifically targeting the deployment of casual labour and the subsequent processing of related payments. Officials are examining various records to determine the extent of the alleged fraud.

In a separate policy development, a senior advisor to the Prime Minister has advocated for the periodic review of cash transfer schemes for women. The recommendation follows the success of state-level programs like Maharashtra’s Ladki Bahin and Odisha’s Subhadra Yojana. Proponents argue that a systematic, evidence-based review process will ensure these funds effectively reach intended beneficiaries while maintaining fiscal responsibility. The initiative aims to standardize the implementation of such welfare measures across different administrative jurisdictions.
