Noel Tata Exits Voltas; CBDT Chief Ravi Agrawal Tenure Extended

Simultaneously, the Union government has confirmed a six-month tenure extension for Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Ravi Agrawal. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his reappointment on a contract basis, effective from July 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026. This decision, aimed at ensuring continuity in direct tax policy formulation, allows Agrawal to continue overseeing the policy-making body for the Income Tax Department despite his previous retirement date of June 30.
