Bengaluru Police Apprehend Teenager For Elaborate Jewelry Shop Heist

Bengaluru police have arrested a 19-year-old school dropout for the theft of approximately 10 kilograms of silver ornaments, valued at ₹12.5 lakh, from a jewelry shop in Halasuru. The suspect, identified as Teja, a resident of Shankarapuram, Tamil Nadu, allegedly used a wall-cutting tool to breach the establishment on April 29, 2026, before fleeing with the haul.

Following the burglary, the Halasuru police launched a comprehensive investigation that relied heavily on local intelligence and CCTV footage from the surrounding neighborhood. Authorities successfully tracked and apprehended the suspect on May 20, 2026. Teja confessed that he committed the robbery to fund personal expenses due to his unemployment, and police eventually recovered 5 kilograms of the stolen silver from a jewelry shop in Madanur, Tamil Nadu, on June 1, 2026.

The suspect, who possessed no prior criminal record, was produced before a local court on June 2, 2026, and remains in judicial custody. The investigation remains ongoing as police look into the remaining stolen property and determine if any additional parties were involved in the acquisition of the melted or sold ornaments from the primary suspect.
